Mirror's Edge Catalyst is the Official Title of the Successor of Mirror's Edge
Electronic Arts has launched the official website of Mirror's Edge Catalyst, thereby confirming that the successor of Mirror's Edge from 2008 will receive the subtitle "Catalyst".
Recently information has appeared that Mirror's Edge Catalyst trademark was registered, which could indicate that it was associated with the successor of Mirror's Edge. Today we can confirm this rumor. Electronic Arts has just launched the official website of Mirror's Edge Catalyst. In addition to messages from developers, so far it only contains the already known art and last year’s trailers. A new portion of details, videos and screenshots will be made available at the upcoming E3.
According to the information provided by Sara Jansson from DICE, during the last two years the development team worked hard on the game so that it would meet the expectations of fans. Jansson also confirmed that the production will not be a sequel to the original, but a completely new game using the world and characters, as well as significantly improved gameplay elements of its predecessor. She said:
"The team has spent a lot of time re-evaluating every aspect of the game and making it a new experience. This is not a sequel, this is not Mirror’s Edge 2. We have landed on a vision that honors the first game — pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players".
Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. At the moment the launch is planned for the first quarter of 2016. Keep in mind that the new information related to the production will be published during the official press conference of Electronic Arts that will take place on June 15 at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm GMT.
