Minecraft Will Remind Players to Take Breaks. At Least in Korea

A new snapshot for Minecraft introduces interesting changes that will affect Korean players. They will be encouraged to take breaks from playing.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Snapshot 22W06A for Minecraft is now available;
  • It introduces a timer and notifications to the Korean version of the game to remind us to take a break;
  • The update also fixes some bugs.

Another update to Minecraft was released yesterday. Snapshot 22W06A introduces very few changes to the game, but one of them may significantly affect the experience of Korean players.

While publishing the list of new features, Mojang shared the information that the game has been adapted to meet legal requirements in South Korea. This forced the introduction of several new features to the game.

We are talking about the timer and notifications suggesting a break from further play. Both elements will appear on the screen in case of extremely long sessions in front of the monitor. Unfortunately, no details have been shared.

These innovations should not come as a surprise, since South Korea is known for its strict approach to digital entertainment. Until August last year, the country had a so-called Cinderella law. It prohibited children under 16 years of age from playing between 0:00 and 6:00.

Other changes in snapshot 22W06A

  1. Any object present in registries (e.g. blocks, items, biomes) can now have tags;
  2. Parrots no longer die for no reason as a result of using the Riptide spell;
  3. Fixed bugs related to incorrect generation of underwater temples in the flat water world;
  4. Eliminated visual glitches when using fireworks.
