Minecraft - Students Organized Their Own Graduation Ceremony

The risk posed by the novel coronavirus will most likely prevent schools from organizing graduation ceremonies, a very important event for students in Japan. That's why a group of students organized their own graduation in Minecraft.

The kids decided to organize their own graduation ceremony.

Due to coronavirus in Japan, as in many other countries, schools were closed. Some of them have recently reopened, but many kids will be unable to attend the graduation ceremonies in primary, middle and high schools, which traditionally take place at the end of March. A group of students decided to organize a virtual version of such an event in Minecraft.

One of the Japanese youtubers helped to create a map representing the school room. The kids then gathered on one server and performed a virtual version of the ceremony. It is worth mentioning that it was the students' own initiative, not something the teachers organized for them.

The map was built in an appropriate scale, also creating places that would be suitable for guests and parents in the real world. It was a little sad that their virtual renditions were empty empty. However, this did not bother the students themselves. As the father of one of the students writes, they spent the whole day having fun with their friends on the server.

Last but not least, this is another example of Minecraft's ingenious use in recent days. Last week we wrote about the launch of the Uncensored Library project, a virtual library of works censored by authoritarian regimes, created in this game.
