Microsoft's 10-year-old Exclusive Will Soon Experience a Second Youth
The developers of Killer Instinct have announced that they will provide an update for Xbox Series X/S consoles to mark the game's 10th anniversary. For now, it has not been revealed when players will receive the new update.
After almost 10 years since its release, Microsoft's exclusive fighting game - Killer Instinct - will get a free update for Xbox Series X/S consoles. The title's developers announced the news this weekend at EVO 2023 and posted an announcement on social media.
EVO, or Evolution Championship Series, focuses on fighting games. In recent days, fans of the genre have been able to watch top players clash in Street Fighter 6 or Mortal Kombat 11. It is worth mentioning that from 2021 Sony owns the rights to the event.
Killer Instinct - the anniversary update is coming
Killer Instinct debuted in November 2013 as an Xbox One exclusive. Double Helix was responsible for its development and initial support (1st season). Subsequent seasons (2nd and 3rd) were the responsibility of Iron Galaxy Studios, which will also provide the announced update.
As communicated by the developers, the update will focus on several issues - their goal is primarily to improve balance and matchmaking or introduce 4K support on Xbox Series X/S consoles ..
As of now, there is no word on when the anniversary update will be released. The developers have only written to await news, which should arrive "in the near future." It can be suspected that the update will be released closer to November, the month in which the game originally premiered.
Recall that Killer Instinct - in addition to Xbox consoles - is also available on PC (Steam). Those interested can also check out this title through Xbox Game Pass.
Steam users have a good opinion of the game. Killer Instinct has received 3652 reviews on the platform, of which as much as 91% are positive.
