Metal Gear Solid V update turns Quiet into a playable character
Quiet is now a playable character in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain – 3 years after the game's debut. But the update that brought her around did even more than that.
News like this usually break rather quietly. Three years after the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the game got a new update. But along a few minor fixes one could expect came a new playable character – Quiet. She is now available for the FOB missions, in which the player conquers the bases of others. And she has some useful skills, too – not just the… extraordinary looks.
There are four traits that make Quiet special:
- exceptional speed of movement;
- the ability to dash, allowing her to cover short distance in an instant;
- the sniper rifle, because, you know, it’s Quiet;
- and the camouflage – should Quiet freeze for a few seconds, a cloaking device kicks in, rendering her virtually invisible.
But it’s not just about the girl. It’s about spicing up the FOB missions as well. You can now try out a new “Event FOB [HARD]” mode. It is more difficult, of course, and thus earns you more points, but there is also an upside – other players are not allowed to retaliate against you. Plus your arsenal gets an upgrade, too. There is a new Renov-Ickx bis Sniper Rifle, the Dark Matter Generator, and the Energy Wall. Quite something for a quiet, unexpected update.
And yes, PCMR members, we know that you could play Quiet using mods for a long time, stop it now.
