Roguelike fans have a reason to be happy recently. Not so long ago, Warsong Update was released for Hades 2. So, this is the perfect excuse to return (or enter for the first time) to this world inspired by Greek mythology. This major patch introduced new content, including location called The Summit with the final boss of Surface Path. In addition, now the god of war Ares with his boons also appears in the game. However, you must unlock this character first.

How to unlock Ares in Hades 2?

As befits a god of war, Ares offers abilities that will give you an advantage in battle. Some of them, like Grievous Blow, Profuse Bleeding and Meat Grinder, are really strong and can make your adventure easier. However, Ares isn’t available from the beginning. You must unlock him to get access to his boons.

So, how to do this? In theory, it isn’t extremely complicated – you only need to reach the end of a run. In practice, however, it requires a lot of patience and some luck.

  1. First, you have to choose Surface Path. It consists of four locations, and you must reach the final one – the highest peak of Mount Olympus called The Summit.
  2. The Summit is the place where you meet the final boss - Typhon. To unlock Ares you must face this creature. If you want to learn more about it, check out our earlier guide.

After the fight (regardless of the outcome), Ares will become available. Now, you have to start a new run to meet this god.
