Starfield has been around for over a year now. While critics gave it decent reviews, players weren’t as impressed. Shattered Space was supposed to revitalize the game, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. Luckily, where the devs fall short, the fans step up. The Star Wars Genesis mod dropped in August 2024, and while the community responded positively, it still needed some fine-tuning. The creator never gave up on the project, steadily refining it with fixes and updates. Now, with the upcoming 7.2 Dawn of the Empire update, the mod is set to get even better, packed with fresh content and a smoother experience. Oh, and it’s not just for Star Wars fans – it’s for all space cowboys out there.

Star Wars Genesis keeps evolving. Dawn of the Empire update breakdown

The creator of the Star Wars Genesis mod recently dropped a 20-minute update overview with raw gameplay footage.

We can finally play as a droid (was that K-2SO in that cape?). But the best part is that this mod isn’t just about fighting the Empire over and over again. It features a fully completed Yuuzhan Vong main story, where they begin their invasion of the galaxy in search of powerful artifacts.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new:

  1. Five new factions now appear in existing POIs: Rebel Alliance, Stormtrooper Corps, Hutt Cartel, Pykes, and Militia/Partisans—each with their own unique blaster arsenal.
  2. 26 new locations with Stormtroopers enemies and rare Kuber Crystals.
  3. More lore-accurate weapons with improved visuals, better damage balancing, new blasters, and enhanced melee combat.
  4. Lots of prop and environmental upgrades. Holobooks replace traditional books, kitchen/office/industrial props reworked, and new Star Wars-themed decorations.
  5. Expanded factions – Shadow Collective and Elite Mercenary groups now have new armors, plus enhancements to the Bounty Hunter’s Guild.
  6. Improved textures, lighting, and crowd NPC variety. New Star Wars characters and smarter AI.
  7. Reworked skill perks, Force Lightning added, and improved progression system.
  8. More Star Wars tracks, ship weapon sounds replaced, and cantina music updated.
  9. Star Wars clothing and armor added to shops, unique vendor for the Amban Rifle, and improved item descriptions.
  10. Lots of balance adjustments like buffed weapons, ship combat tweaks, bounty rewards increased, and crime system refined.
  11. Bug fixes and quality-of-life updates – improved quest progression, faction interactions, UI fixes, and general polish.

This update takes the mod to the next level, adding more depth and polish for both Star Wars and Starfield fans. As always, the community never lets a good thing die – just look at what happened with the Battlefront Remaster. I have no doubt Star Wars Genesis will keep growing even bigger.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
