LoL Will Introduce Big Changes to an Important Aspect; Riot Wants to Help Players

The developers of League of Legends have announced that the game will get an improved bot system. Among other things, it will help players just entering the world of LoL.

A sizable portion of players who took their first steps in League of Legendsused the "together against AI" mode. This option was supposed to prepare "freshmen" to some extent for battles with human opponents. Unfortunately, the bots designed by Riot Games did not pose any challenge to new players, and thus the latter did not gain any valuable experience. Fortunately, the situation will soon improve significantly.

In a comprehensive post on the LoL's blog, Darcy Ludington (who leads the technical department) and Emmett Coakley (head of the bot team) announced that Riot Games is working on improving the AI of virtual opponents.

"Our data shows that no matter how many cooperative games against AI a new user played before entering the PvP queue, they did not increase their chances of winning. So we want to give players a place where they can enjoy the strategy and team aspect of the game in a less stressful environment, accessible to players of all skill levels," the news reads.

The developers revealed that they are working on providing "an enhanced environment with bots that better reflect the standard gameplay experience in League of Legends". This means that AI opponents will, among other things, act more strategically and in teams, and adapt their decisions to the player's current experience. It is worth mentioning that the technology will be developed for easy support in the future.

We also learn from the entry that a special test server will be set up in the second half of 2023, where new players will be able to test the operation of bots.
