LoL for the Smartest, Fifa / EA FC for the Least Savvy? Intelligence Test Made Players Laugh
The Which Bingo Group's player intelligence test is more of a curiosity, but at least it amused confused League of Legends (and other) players a hundredfold.
Fans of League of Legends are supposedly be the most intelligent group of gamers. At least that's the result of a study conducted by the Which Bingo group, in which LoL users achieved an average score of 120.4 IQ (via Esports News UK).
It should be noted right away that the research sample was rather modest. The Which Bingo survey was completed by just over a thousand people. Therefore, it is better to approach her results with caution and not draw any definitive conclusions.
A remote intelligence test (conducted with the support of psychologists) checked the abilities of the respondents in mathematics, verbal communication, logic, and visual thinking. Right behind LoL players, there were people playing such games as Black Myth: Wukong, Baldur’s Gate 3 and Counter-Strike.
The players who ended up at the bottom were FIFA 23 and FC24 as well as Rocket League, with an average IQ of 89.8 and 90.8 respectively. In turn, when divided by platforms, PC users performed better (114.1 points), ahead of PlayStation owners (111), Xbox owners (105.9), and Switch (103.4) as well as mobile gamers (99.9). In terms of gender, the difference was slightly in favor of the ladies over the gentlemen.
Of course, the question remains whether such a comparison is actually valid, even disregarding the modest number of respondents. LoL may be one of the most popular games on the market, but one may wonder whether it enjoys the popularity of FIFA. One could also argue that the entry threshold for the MOBA game by Riot Games is probably somewhat higher than for the football game by EA Sports, which therefore likely attracts more "casual" players.
Internet users, rightly, do not take these results seriously, having reservations about the study. Mainly in the context of the "genius" players' own experiences with LoL and - according to a popular meme - the "crime" of playing League of Legends itself.
