Leak Reveals Nvidia's Cheaper RTX 3060 and 3050 GPUs
There were leaks about Nvidia's graphics cards from lower shelves. The chipsets in question are GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050, which are due for release in 2021.
Recently, we mentioned that the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti will be Nvdia's next graphics card to go into the shops. However, many players are still waiting for much cheaper chipsets. The company still has the GeForce RTX 3060, RTX 3050 Ti and RTX 3050 planned. The first two cards, according to the recent spec leaks should be equipped with 6GB of GDDR6 memory (192-bit bus). Both are to be based on the Ampere GA106 GPU and differ at least in the number of CUDA cores (3840 vs 3580).
Today, the well-known insider, kopite7kimi, added partial specs of an even cheaper card - GeForce RTX 3050, based on the GA107-300 with 2304 CUDA cores. No details were provided about the amount of VRAM and data bus, but we assume it will be 4 GB of GDDR6 memory (128-bit). Power consumption will be slightly higher than the GeForce GTX 1650, with TGP of just 90 watts.
For the first time, lower priced Nvidia cards will support hardware ray tracing. This is a change from the previous generation, in which models below the RTX 2060, the various variations of the GTX 1660 and GTX 1650, had no dedicated RT units. GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 Ti are due for release in January 2021 at the earliest, and the second model may be delayed until February. The release date of the RTX 3050 is a mystery, but it will probably be February or even March. The prices of individual cards are not yet known.
