Bloober Team released a teaser for the new installment of the Layers of Fear series. The video is somewhat mysterious. It shows the action from the perspective of a painter, which may suggest a return to the themes from the first installment.
Teaser also confirms that the new Layers of Fear will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will use the first-person perspective.
The video shows that the new installment of the series will be released in 2022. Unfortunately, this is the end of the details shared by devs. We do not even know the hardware platforms on which the new Layers of Fear will launch, although most likely they will be the same as in the case of this year's project by the team that gave us The Medium. We expect that the game will hit PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.
As you may remember, the series began with the release of the first Layers of Fear in 2016. A few months after its release, the game received the Layers of Fear : Inheritance expansion. Two years ago, a sequel titled Layers of Fear 2 debuted on the market. Initially, it was available only on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but a few months ago it also hit Nintendo Switch
Bloober Team has ambitious plans for the future. The studio is working on two unannounced AAA titles that will offer new mechanics compared to the developer's previous games. One of them will be published by Konami and the other by Take-Two Interactive. We don't know if the new Layers of Fear is one of those titles or a separate project.
