Layers of Fear in First Reviews

The first reviews of the new Layers of Fear suggest that Polish studio Bloober Team may be only partially satisfied. The game did not appeal to a sizable group of industry critics.

As you already know, the new Layers of Fear - the third part series of FPP horror adventure games from Bloober Team launches today. The game was initially announced under the title Layers of Fears and will be released on PC, PS5 and XSX/S.

With the release of the game, the embargo on reviews was lifted. The first ratings from industry critics aggregated by Metacritic.com suggest that we are dealing with another good game... which, however, will clearly not appeal to every gamer. Anyway, take a look at the ratings yourself.

Some reviewers appreciated the fact that Bloober Team and the collaborating Anshar Studios took the two previous games in the series on the workshop and mixed them with new content to create a meaningful whole. Others didn't like this concept - they think the plot is thus not original enough, too repetitive. Therefore, many critics recommend the new Layers of Fear to players who are unfamiliar with its predecessors... or simply to the series' biggest enthusiasts.

For the former group - at least according to reviewers - it will be a much more enjoyable experience than playing the originals. Unreal Engine 5 "gets the job done," making the visuals of LoF impressive. In addition, the game offers some new mechanics and streamlined versions of the old ones. Again, however - some critics are of the opinion that this is not enough. The same is true of the atmosphere in Layers of Fear - some people are delighted with it, others miss the game's "meat" and real-life nightmares.

In the texts of industry critics you can come across both opinions that LoF is the magnum opus of Bloober Team and that we are dealing with the most unnecessary remake ever. Many reviewers - even those who liked the game - also draw attention to minor technical issues present in the game. However, among the ratings, green color nevertheless dominates - i.e. notes from 7/10 upwards - which means that the developers can be reasonably satisfied.
