Baldur’s Gate 3 Fan Collected Cut Content in One Place
A ton of content was cut from Baldur's Gate 3. See what didn't make it into the full version of the game. Beware of potential spoilers.
Do you think that Baldur's Gate 3 is a long game, giving the player an insanely large amount of gameplay freedom? If so, you are right, of course, but it turns out that the game was supposed to be even more extensive. One fan decided to make a list of more important content, that was removed before the game's release. There is surprisingly a lot of it.
Baldur's Gate 3 cut content
WARNING, SPOILERS: I play Baldur's Gate 3 very slowly, so a lot of the information I had to go through to write this text turned out to be spoilers for me. Writing them down was like a sacrifice. If any of you do not want to share my fate, don't read the rest of the article..
In the thread dedicated to Baldur's Gate 3 on Reddit, one player decided to create a list of cut content. Below you can find the most interesting things.
- The Upper City was removed. Interestingly, it was cut out about 2 weeks before the release.
- In the early access version, players could choose Shar as their deity, which involved unique dialogue trees, especially when interacting with Shadowheart, who herself is a follower of this goddess. This has been removed in the full version.
- The cambion called Raphael was meant to be a merchant accepting Souls Coins that could be exchanged for powerful items.
- Avernus, a hell location that was supposed to be available for exploration and was to be similar in size to the Underdark, was removed.
- Minsc could be recruited already in the first act of the game.
- Thousands of lines of dialogue and companion events were cut from act 1. Some were already fully voiced. This is a real shame considering how satisfying the interactions with party members are.
- There were supposed to be serious consequences in the game for overusing Illithid powers and investing too much in Tadpole powers.
- Much of the tutorial area on the Nautolid ship was cut in the final version, including cut-scenes, dialogues, areas and an optional fight with two wounded Imps.
- In the early access, the game included a crafting bench, and it's likely that we were to have full access to our own crafting or enchantment equipment via some systems. Although these have been cut, the items for them have not. Because of that, you can still find items such as ingots, gems, wood and other materials.
This, of course, is not all that has been removed from Baldur's Gate 3, but I didn't want to address all the topics to aboid major spoilers. If you want to know more details, you can find them in this thread.
