Larian Studios Cuts Off Speculation About Future of Baldur's Gate 3: 'We Want to Do More'
Baldur's Gate 3 may receive DLC or even a full-fledged sequel. A manager at Larian Studios shared good news.
Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the biggest and most warmly received launches of recent years. The game is praised for its immense content, engaging storyline, satisfying gameplay or brilliantly written characters. The advantages can be listed endlessly. No wonder, then, that players want more and, as it turns out, sooner or later they are likely to get more content for the game, or perhaps even a sequel..
Good news for Baldur's Gate 3 fans
Tom Butler, senior product manager at Larian Studios, said that players can get a DLC for Baldur's Gate 3, and in time even a full-fledged sequel, but the latter should not be expected too soon..
"For the foreseeable future, the development team is set to patch the game for some time before everyone takes a fully deserved vacation. Only after their return will the future of Baldur's Gate begin to take shape. Regardless of whether it will be a full-fledged sequel, a DLC in the meantime, or perhaps both."
Additionally, Butler admitted that Larian Studios "wants to do more." This is very good news for gamers, and given the size of Baldur's Gate 3 and how much gamers appreciate the craftsmanship of Larian Studios, I'm sure most fans will be happy to wait for the eventual development of the series.
Interestingly, earlier Larian studio head Swen Vincke stated that he does not completely rule out the creation of an expansion for the game, but it would be very very difficult to do so. One has to take into account, for example, the fact that the further gameplay is affected by various consequences of the player's actions, and this in itself could be a problem when developing an expansion. You can read more about it here.
Finally, let us remind you that Baldur's Gate 3 will also come to Xbox consoles. As we reported, there have been talks between Swen Vincke and Phil Spencer. As the head of Larian wrote on his profile on Twitter:
"Super happy to confirm that after meeting XboxP3 [Phil Spencer - ed. note], we've found a solution that allow us to bring Baldur's Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still (...)"
