Larian ends Baldur's Gate 3 development. Devs now focus on new project
Baldur's Gate 3 won't be completely abandoned, but the Larian Studios team is already focusing all its attention on its next project.
Larian Studios is finishing up the development of Baldur’s Gate 3 and is seriously getting down to work on a new project.
Since the game's release on PC (and later on consoles), the developer has released seven major updates to BG 3. The third Baldur's Gate will receive another big update with new subclasses - even though the previous major patch was supposed to be the last one introducing new content to the game (afterward we were only supposed to receive a photo mode, crossplay, and various fixes).
However, it seems that this time the developers are really finishing with major updates. In a statement to VideoGamer, Larian Studios representatives confirmed they are dedicating their "full attention" to the next project. Of course, Baldur’s Gate 3 will still be improved with minor patches, but fans shouldn't expect any major updates or a more active presence of the developers in the media.
From various sources, we know that work on the new game (or rather games) has been going on for a long time, and the head of Larian Studios is clearly eager to share information about this ambitious project. Nonetheless, we shouldn't count on a quick announcement, especially since the developers also have Patch 8 on their minds, which will be released this month.
