Dark fantasy RPG from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 co-creators impresses on first full trailer
We finally got the first full trailer for the game The Blood of Dawnwalker. It's an action RPG by Polish studio Rebel Wolves, consisting of veterans of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
As announced, today at 01:00 p.m. PT on Twitch, a presentation took place during which the Polish studio Rebel Wolves—founded by the director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, and consisting of many former CD Projekt Red employees, veterans of "The Witcher" and Cyberpunk 2077—fully presented their first game, the third-person action RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Below you can watch its first full trailer. It's linked to a short gameplay trailer, showcased at the end of the stream, captured on Unreal Engine 5, and displaying the alpha version of the game. The full disclosure of the gameplay is set to take place in the summer of 2025.
Similar to the teaser released on Friday, the above trailer is very atmospheric. I wrote: "trailer," even though it was revealed that the material serves as an introduction to the game and presents a scene taking place 2 years before the events in which we will participate. The action of the title will be set in 14th-century Europe - in the trailer, we see the Carpathians from 1347 - in which vampires exist.
These monsters - capable of "protruding" razor-sharp fangs in a rather terrifying manner - lived in the shadows for many years, observing the actions of humanity. However, they have now decided to come out of hiding and change everything by taking power. Brencis leads them, and their actions are likely related to the plague, war, and famine that are ravaging the world.
It's worth mentioning that the stream featured a performance of the song Ballad of Night and Day by Polish composer Mikolaj Stroinski, known for his work on the soundtracks of numerous video games, including The Witcher 3. This is very important, as the night and day cycle will be a key aspect of The Blood of Dawnwalker. Similar to the passage of time in general - each of our important steps, such as completing a quest, should somehow push the action forward. We will have 30 days and as many nights to accomplish our objectives.
The main one will be saving the protagonist's family from captivity by vampires. We will assume the role of Coen, a young boy who "will never become a superhero." During the day, he will have to fight using a sword and black magic, while at night he will make use of vampiric powers - both in combat against powerful enemies who avoid sunlight, and during exploration.
As for the release date of The Blood of Dawnwalker - which is supposed to be the beginning of the saga - Rebel Wolves studio is not yet ready to reveal it. However, we were assured that we would regularly receive information about the game. Let's mention that from the devs' statements at the beginning of the presentation, we learned that 150 developers are involved in the project. They have been working on it for about 2 years.
Below you will find the full record of yesterday's stream.
