Modern Heir to 2021 HoMM Expands to New Platforms
Two years after its release on PC and last-gen consoles, King's Bounty II has finally arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.
We finally lived to see the release of King's Bounty II for next-generation consoles, namely PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
- The standard edition for PS5 can be purchased on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for $39.99.
- In addition to the standard edition, the so-called. Lord's Edition, which additionally offers a set of virtual items and a Premium Heroes and Villains Pack.
Compared to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions the next-gen edition offers many improvements. On PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X (Series S owners won't be able to test it) we can play in dynamic 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second. The devs also made it possible to transfer saves from old consoles to new ones.
The developers also praise the improved visuals - although it's difficult to judge whether, in terms of visuals, this release offers anything beyond what we could find in the PC version of the game (especially since the PC edition apparently didn't get a parallel update).
Recall that King's Bounty II debuted on August 24, 2021 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. So we waited more than two years for the next-gen versions.
Reception of the game by the trade media was mixed. On OpenCritic the gane has an average rating of 66%. Gamers are also divided in their opinions - on Steam only 62% of reviews are positive. Overall, the game is not as highly regarded as King's Bounty: Legend from 2008, which has 90% positive reviews on Valve's platform.
