Intel Arc Launch Delayed by Supply Issues
Intel's Arc series GPUs may be delayed until the second quarter of next year. The reason is problems with the supply of materials needed for their production.
The first models of Intel's Arc series GPUs may arrive later than anticipated - not until Q2 2022. This is due to nothing other than problems with the availability of semiconductors, and thus - the entire supply chain. At the same time, according to rumors, cards dedicated to laptops are to appear earlier.

Rumors about the delay of Intel's cards from the Alchemist series came from youtuber Moore's Law Is Dead (MLID), which deals with creating content on technology. According to the sources he cites in his video, the delay of Intel Arc' launch is due to the recurrence of Covid-19 in East Asia and Malaysia, where semiconductor factories have closed. This, incidentally, also affects other GPU manufacturers, and thus the prices. What's more, in the case of Intel the reason for the delay is also the energy crisis in China.
Earlier rumors also pointed to delays due to unfinished card drivers, but MLID strongly denies this, pointing precisely to the supply chain issue. It's worth noting, however, that these are still just rumors and even though MLID is 100% certaint regarding the delay, things can still change.
The Arc series was announced earlier this year and although doesn't pose much of a threat to Nvidia or AMD cards, it's still doing quite well, as we wrote about here. Additionally, Intel has mentioned the next generation of cards to be called Battlemage, Celestial and Druid (alphabetical order). There is a lot to look forward to.
