Insomniac Games Brings Daredevil to Spider-Man Universe? Notable Indications
More and more clues are pointing to the fact that Daredevil will enter the Spider-Man universe created by Insomniac Games.
It's quite possible that we've met the new superhero who will make his way to the virtual New York City recreated by Insomniac Games. This is indicated by circumstantial evidence, lowkey aknowledged by one of the leading developers responsible for series Marvel's Spider-Man.
Which hero is being referred to? It's about Daredevil, for whom the "Big Apple" was also home, after all.
However, let's start from the beginning. The attention of avid Spider-Man fans was attracted by the absence of an easter egg in this year's installment, which appeared in the prequel from 2018 (via IGN). The case in question is a message board from a building in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, where Daredevil, along with his friend Nelson, ran a law firm.
The case is interesting in that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 uses the architecture of the city of the 2018 original (while adding two new districts), and additionally carries over most of the easter eggs from it. It might seem that the lack of reference to Daredevil in the new game is simply an oversight on the part of the devs.
What adds spice to the whole matter, however, is a comment from Insomniac Games senior creative director Bryan Intihar, whom IGN editors asked about the reasons for the absence of the aforementioned plaque in the game. He laconically and somewhat mysteriously answered:
"Good find. Stay tuned."
In addition, Intihar - to the delight of fans - alluded to a question about Daredevil (excerpt below) during a joint listening to the soundtrack of Spider-Man 2, which the rest of the filmmakers in attendance quipped with telling laughter.
That's not all, however, as Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players have discovered a new easter egg, referring - indirectly - to the story of the blind superhero.
It is about a secret room, which is located in the back of an inconspicuous bookstore on the Upper West Side. Admittedly, you can't get into the secret room, however, the view from the outside in photo mode enables you to determine that it probably belongs to the organization known as The Hand, the criminal syndicate that the comic book Daredevil has been battling for years.
Following these discoveries a discussion heated up on the web about a possible expansion for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, in which one of the main characters would be precisely the blind vigilante.
It must be admitted that the character, who clashed with faction not appearing in the game, would fit perfectly into the vision of gameplay created by Insomniac Games - especially as part of a larger expansion.
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 made its debut on October 20 exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game received very good reviews, and became the fastest-selling title from Sony in history.
