Last week, Grinding Gear Games studio revealed the most important information about the upcoming Legacy of Phrecia event in Path of Exile 1. However, this doesn't mean that we have learned absolutely all the new features, as the developers still have a few smaller improvements up their sleeve. Now they have shared them on the official game website.

How to get and recombine Idols

One of the most important new features in Legacy of Phrecia will be a completely new endgame system, which will replace the well-known Atlas tree. We are talking about Idols, which provide a range of modifiers to maps. We described the whole mechanics in more detail in one of the previous news, and now the devs have provided more details about it.

The easiest way to acquire Idols will simply be "dropping" them from monsters, but this is not the only option. After improving the black market in Kingsmarch, we will be able to buy them from Faustus for gold. However, we won't be able to see the item's statistics until we decide to purchase it.

On the other hand, if we have too many Idols, the developers have prepared ways to recombine them. The first way is to sell surplus items in exchange for new ones from the seller. For instance: if we offer three magical Idols of the same base, we will receive a random magical Idol in return, also of the same base. Another way is combining, which we will be able to do at Isly in Kingsmarch.

Furthermore, it was conveyed that the game will feature several new unique Idols, which can change the content we decide to use. For example, the Twisted Wish Unique Idol was shown, which causes the modifiers of the Ultimatum mechanics to start at a higher level. However, in return, the chances for specific rewards are reduced. This will allow us to choose the ones we care about the most.
