Larian Studios has addressed the concerns of players who like to play Baldur's Gate 3 with mods (and need to wait for them to be updated) or who prefer to delay downloading Patch 7 for other reasons. To stay with the "old" version of the game on Steam, just select ("release_patch6_hf9") from the list located in the "beta" tab in the game properties.

Original news (September 5, 8:48 a.m. PT)

The developers of Baldur's Gate III have finally released the much-anticipated Patch 7, which introduced many new features and fixes to the game. PC users will be the first to check the major update, while console and Mac owners will have to wait until October 2024.

The devs have reported that the patch is 11.6 GB on PC (10.62 GB on Steam) and requires a minimum of 160 GB of free disk space for installation. The creators have stated their intention to release several more patches, with some of them including features such as crossplay and a photo mode.

All details about Patch 7 for the third "Baldur" can be found in the post by the Belgian studio. Below, you will get acquainted with the most important changes that have been implemented in the game.

  1. Official mod support. Larian Studios has introduced a Toolkit for creating modifications and a Mod Manager for managing them. Importantly, the Toolkit is set to be launched later in the day.
  2. 13 new cutscenes for gameplay with the evil character.
  3. New skills for enemies in Honor Mode. Some enemies have expanded their range of attacks. One of them is Malus Thorm, a doctor at the House of Healing, who received an attack called Grasping Appendage. Dror Ragzlin, Spectators, or Githyanki also received new skills.
  4. Improved split screen. If the player characters approach each other, the previously divided screen will become whole again. However, when they move away from each other, it will become two-part.
  5. Gameplay changes. The Kuo-toa tribe will assist us in the final battle. The saved Gondians will also do the same.
  6. Our companions in the camp will receive improved animations.
  7. Several elements of the user interface have also been modified.

Despite the need for a few more updates, the Baldur's Gate III development is gradually nearing completion, as highlighted in the extensive announcement from Larian Studios. Let's remind that the PAX West 2024 fair has recently ended, where the developers spoke for the last time about this RPG.

It's also worth mentioning that Baldur's Gate III on PC can be purchased at a lower price until September 9, 2024. On Steam, we will currently pay $47.99 for this RPG (the standard price is $59.99). Meanwhile, on GOG, the game costs $50.37 (instead of $62.97).
