How Many Boruto Fillers Are There? Episodes You Can Skip
Boruto consists of almost three hundred episodes, which can be intimidating. So we've got a little guide for you on which episodes to skip if you want to focus solely on events important to the plot.
Longer anime, especially those that come out simultaneously with the manga on which they are based, are very often full of fillers. Their creators opt for these fillers when the events of the episodes begin to catch up with those of the manga, meaning that the source material could soon run out. This can be especially problematic with manga whose new chapters only come out once a month, such as in the case of Boruto.
Boruto is downright overflowing with fillers, as much as 71% are episodes that are not based on the manga or novel. Of the 293 episodes of Boruto that have aired so far, 208 are fillers, which is a large number, due precisely to the fact that the source material isn’t extensive enough to be translated into such a long TV series. But what's interesting is that while there are so many fillers in Boruto, a lot of it is considered important to the canon, especially since the anime introduces characters that weren't originally in the manga, but were added there at a later stage (precisely because they worked well in the anime).
This makes it somewhat difficult to skip fillers. There were many of them in Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, however, in the case of the original series, they were non-canonical and presented as alternative events that had no relevance to the story. In the case of Boruto, these fillers fill in the gaps between manga arcs to make the story more complete. Nevertheless, if someone wants to focus exclusively on what happens in the manga, then can still skip the fillers or simply pay attention only to the more important ones.
