Horizon Forbidden West Like Guild Wars and Lineage is Possible
Online Horizon is not a pipe dream. There are many indications that Sony has teamed up with NCSoft, creator of Lineage and publisher of Guild Wars.
Quite recently we reported that, according to an unconfirmed report work may be underway on a cooperative game in the Horizon universe. Rumors are becoming more credible and more concrete - according to MTN (via VGC) Sony was said to have teamed up with NCsoft to develop a Horizon MMORPG.
A networked Horizon on the way?
According to MTN, NCsoft, a developer and publisher known for such titles as Lineage or Guild Wars, was said to have started work on an online version of Horizon. In addition, Guerrilla Games, the studio that developed Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West, had long planned to expand its series with a multiplayer mode. Eventually, the idea was abandoned so that the developers could focus on other elements of the game.
Guerrilla Games has also begun recruiting new employees. Among them, the team is looking for people for the position of senior designer of community systems. There is also a role for a senior game writer, which, however, does not have to be related to network gaming. The person who will hold the position is expected to have "extensive knowledge of narrative design in open-world RPGs" and to handle the creation of quests in an online game.
Although these are just rumors, they seem to be related in some way. It seems that the online Horizon may indeed be in the pipeline. However, we have to wait for confirmation until Sony or NCsoft announce their position.
