Julia Roberts had the unpleasantness of working with Nick Nolte. The actors starred together in Charles Shyer's film, I Love Trouble, and Roberts doesn't have good memories of that time. It has to do with the fact that her collaboration with Nolte, who starred in Star Wars' The Mandalorian and Marvel's The Incredible Hulk, was far from smooth.

For Robers, it was such an unpleasant experience that she had no reluctance to openly criticize the actor during an interview with The New York Times (via Variety). And while she admitted that Nolte can be charming, there are also times when he is “completely disgusting.” However, the actress confessed that they were able to get on each other's nerves with reciprocity, so the two must not have had much affection for each other.

From the moment I met him we sort of gave each other a hard time, and naturally we get on each other’s nerves. [While he can be] completely charming and very nice, he’s also completely disgusting. He’s going to hate me for saying this, but he seems go out of his way to repel people. He’s a kick.

Speaking to Insider, Nolte admitted that the conflict on the set of I Love Trouble was partly his fault. However, he confessed that although he did not contact Roberts after the production of the film was completed, there is no longer a feud between them.

No, I haven’t [reached out to her]. Though [the hatchet] is buried. I mean, it was absurd what we went through. It was partly my fault and a little bit of hers. Julia got married at the beginning of that film and it was one of those things where I just approached it all wrong.

The film itself, I Love Trouble, which tells the story of two reporters working for rival newspapers, was not a success. With an estimated budget of $45 million (via IMDb), it earned $30 million (via Box Office Mojo).
