Halo Reach PC Hardware Requirements; Possible Cross-play with Xbox One
The team at 343 Industries shared the hardware requirements for the PC version of the classic FPS Halo: Reach. The creators also discussed the matter of cross-play.
Another round of closed tests of the PC version of Halo: Reach has started. On this occasion, Studio 343 Industries, the team responsible for the project, announced the hardware requirements of the game.
Minimum hardware requirements:
- CPU: Intel i3550 / AMD Phemon II X4 960T
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 / AMD HD 6850
- RAM: 8 GB
This hardware is designed to enable you to get an average of 51-55 frames per second for a CPU and AMD card and 52-54 FPS on an Intel and GeForce GPU.
Minimum hardware requirements for 1080p:
- CPU: Intel i7-870 / AMD FX 4100
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce 560 Ti / AMD Radeon R7 360
- RAM: 8 GB
In this case, the devs predict an average of 61-62 FPS on AMD equipment and 59-61 with Intel/Nvidia set.
Minimum hardware requirements for 4K:
- CPU: Intel i5-3450 / AMD FX-6350
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 / AMD Radeon 480
- RAM: 8 GB
In 4K resolution, the above AMD configuration will provide an average of 60-62 frames per second, and with Intel and Nvidia equipment it will be 60 FPS.
As you can see, the requirements are very general. At a later date, we are to learn more about the exact configurations, including the necessary disk space. Moreover, the devs emphasize that all this information concerns only the Halo: Reach version, which will be available on Steam. The Windows Store release is supposed to have some other requirements, although they haven't been revealed yet.
Currently, two campaign missions and a number of multiplayer modes are being tested in a closed beta. The devs emphasized that the game will enable cross-play between Halo: Reach versions on Steam and Windows Store. On the day of the release, PC players will not face the owners of Xbox One. However, the devs have stressed that they are considering adding such functions at a later date.
The team also promised that the PC version of Halo: Reach will offer rich configuration options. You will be able to, among other things, set the width of the field of view and fully freely change key binding.
As some of you may remember, the game will also be included in the PC version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The project will be available in sale as a set, or you can buy only selected items from it. Therefore, the productions included in the collection will not be published at the same time. The devs intend to publish them in chronological order of the plot. That's why they start with Halo: Reach, which is a prequel. Then we will get Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3 (with the campaign from Halo 3: ODST) and Halo 4. Unfortunately, the release dates of all these games have not been revealed yet.
