GTA 6 could be major „disruption.” Expert says there will never have been „a game as big, as immersive, as incredible, and as all-encompassing”
GTA 6 will completely dominate 2025. According to an industry expert, no other such „big, immersive, incredible, and all-encompassing” game exists.
Many players are eagerly awaiting the release date of GTA 6. Not only fans are waiting for this information, but also publishers, who strongly link the launches of their titles to the release date of Rockstar Games studio's creation.
Professor Mike Fischer, who specializes in interactive media at the University of Southern California and also serves as an advisor at Krafton, spoke in more detail about this interesting phenomenon for Game World Observer.
During the discussion, Fischer cited conversations with acquaintances from the gaming industry, who believed that the release of GTA 6 shouldn't harm other genres (e.g., sports titles, racing, fighting games, etc.). However, he doesn't share their opinion, as evidenced by his description of the case of "eating" Rise of the Tomb Rider by Fallout 4. Both of these games represent different genres and launched on the market in 2015. However, according to the professor, this second title effectively neutralized the sales potential of Lara Croft's adventures.
However, it's hard to compare this situation with GTA 6, which doesn't have an equal competitor. As Fischer claims, this is completely "unknown territory."
So whenever Rockstar ships GTA 6, there will never have been a game as big, as immersive, as incredible, as all-encompassing as GTA 6. It’s an unknown territory, and I'm a little concerned about what that will do for a lot of other AAA games in that space.
Many publishers, dealing with completely different types of games than the action-packed GTA series, would probably agree with Fischer. The aforementioned leaks indicate that companies are steering clear of scheduling release dates that might overlap with GTA 6's launch.
The scientist also noted that sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are expected to significantly increase with the upcoming release date of the discussed game. GTA 6 could be the game that defines this generation of consoles.
