GRID Legends First Gameplay and Release Date

Comemasters presented the first gameplay from GRID Legends and announced its release date. The pre-orders have also been launched.

We lived to see the first gameplay from GRID Legends, announced at EA Play Live 2021. Codemasters, a studio specializing in racing games, has something to prove with this title - especially after the not entirely successful game that turned out to be GRID and DiRT 5. Fortunately, the title currently being prepared by the team looks quite good. In fact, there is nothing surprising about it; we also learned the game's release date - it will launch on February 25, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX|S. And what does it look like in action? Check it out for yourself - the 17-minute long footage below should be enough to form your own opinion.

There's plenty of new features in GRID Legends. The most important of these seems to be the Racing Wizard, which, according to the game's official website, will enable us to "create adrenaline-filled events and bring our friends and the world to tears with cross-play". In other words, we're getting something akin to the Portal mode from Battlefield 2042. EA must have had a hunch that giving shooter fans a virtual space to let their imaginations run wild would be a hit, and they weren't wrong.

We also learned about a number of game modes offered by GRID Legends. We'll compete in events such as eliminations, truck battles, drift, "electrifying acceleration races" and "chaotic multi-class events". We'll be able drive a variety of cars on more than 130 tracks, some of which will be set in locations new to the series, such as London, Moscow, and Austria's Strada Alpina. The creators boast particularly about Fight for Glory, the game's career mode, which is to be the most impressive mode of this kind in the history of the series.

The developers also promise improved, "human" AI of the computer-controlled vehicles. What's more, the participation of rivals in races will be hindered by random events, such as exploding engines or bursting tires.

It is also worth mentioning that pre-orders for GRID Legends can be placed from yesterday. The game is available in two variants - Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition (the "better" one, in addition to the game itself, offers two exclusive cars - Volkswagen Golf GTI and Audi R8 1:1 - as well as earlier unlocking of car upgrades and several additional game modes, career threads, sponsors, colors, logos and other cosmetic elements).
