New Gameplay From God of War Ragnarok Promises Exciting Exploration

A short gameplay from God of War: Ragnarok hit the web. It showcases Svartalfheim and new ways to use Kratos' weapons in environmental puzzles.

The release of God of War: Ragnarok is about two months away, and Sony is beginning increased marketing of the new game from Santa Monica Studio. Yesterday, we saw its commercial starring Rick and Morty, and today Game Informer published a second short gameplay (we wrote about the first - showing combat - here). You can watch it below.

At the beginning of the material, it was confirmed that in God of War: Ragnarok will visit all nine worlds known from the Norse mythology. In addition, it has been assured that we are to feel fresh again in those we visited in the previous installment of the series.

Svartalfheim in its full glory

One of the new worlds will be Svartalfheim, presented on the gameplay - known from Scandinavian legends, the seat of the dwarves, located in the interior of the Earth, specifically between Midgard and Niflheim. In the game, it is a separate land, which is full of all sorts of dwarven engineering, where you will find technological marvels like mine pits, water canals or sprawling cities.

New uses for Kratos' weapons

Such scenery was supposed to enable the devs of God of War: Ragnarok to create environmental puzzles more complex than in the 2018 game. In solving them, we will use - and how - Kratos' Leviathan axe and his Blades of Chaos. With the former we can, for example, freeze geysers, while the Greek weapons can be used to dismantle cauldrons full of boiling water.

The boy will help more

What's more, Atreus will more actively help us solve puzzles. Kratos will be able to give the boy a command to handle a certain device, while he himself will take care of something else in the meantime.

In general, the game is expected to be more extensive and "bolder" than God of War from 2018. The video mentions, for example, more ways to move around, which may suggest that the developers are preparing quite a few surprises.

As a reminder, let me add that the release of God of War: Ragnarok is scheduled for November 9 2022. The title will be released on PS4 and PS5.
