Glass at the top of the US Box Office - forget about critics

Despite the disappointing reviews, the new film by M. Night Shyamalan did very well during the box office weekend, earning twice as much as its production costs. Also Dragon Ball Super: Broly made a solid debut.

The creator of The Sixth Sense, The Village and The Visit has reason to rejoice. Despite unfavorable reviews, Glass, directed by M. Night Shyamalan brought crowds to the cinema, being the most popular film of the weekend. A very good debut was also made by the new movie of Dragon Ball series.

A strong cast certainly contributed to Glass's good result - Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy played in the film.

Glass earned US$40.6 million during the weekend box office, twice the project's budget. The thriller, a continuation of the Split from 2016 and the Unbreakable from 2000, was badly received by critics - only 36% of Rotten Tomatoes reviewers rated it positively, and the Metacritic score equals only 42 points. However, this did not prevent the title from becoming the most popular film at the end of the week. In total, Glass has already earned more than $89.1 million.

More than a year after its original debut and withdrawal from distribution, Upside returned to American cinemas in January - a remake of the French film from 2011, Untouchables, about the friendship between a young boy from the suburbs who recently left prison and a paralyzed millionaire who employs him as a bodyguard. The new version features Bryan Cranston (known from Breaking Bad) and Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Adventure in the Jungle). Production earned 15.7 million dollars during the weekend.

Last week's second debutant was the 20th cinema full feature animation based on the cult anime series Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Super: Broly did not slow down after a great debut and at the end of the week earned $10.7 million, being the third box office movie of the weekend. A total of 89.9 million dollars was added to Son Goku's and the company's adventures.

Aquaman is still doing very well, lacking only $21 million to break through the result achieved by the Dark Knight: Rises and become the most profitable adaptation of DC comics. This weekend the production has raised 10.3 million dollars in the United States and has a total amount of 1.06 billion dollars of pure revenue.
