Ghostrunner Sold to 505 Games
505 Games has acquired the rights to Ghostrunner, last year's cyberpunk action game from Polish team at One More Level, for €5 million.
Ghostrunner an IP developed by Polish studio One More Level has changed owners. The creators have just sold the IP to 505 Games.
The sale price amounted to 5 million euros, and it will be paid next month. As a result of the deal, 505 Games has become the sole and exclusive owner of rights to the Ghostrunner IP, but All In! Games will continue to receive a share in the profits under the terms of last year's publishing agreement.
505 Games bought the IP hoping to develop it further, but no specific plans have been revealed at this time. Most fans are hoping that the development of Ghostrunner 2 will be entrusted to One More Level, as the Krakow-based studio did a great job on the first part.
Ghostrunner was released in October last year on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and in December a version for Nintendo Switch was released. There are plans for dedicated editions for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, which will take advantage of the power of next-gen, but the owners of these hardware platforms can already play this title through backward compatibility.
Ghostrunner turned out to be quite a success. The game was warmly received by the industry media. On Metacritic, the PC edition has an average score of 81%. In the case of the XONE and PS4 editions it is 76%, and on Switch the title received a score of 73%. The project was also appreciatd by our editor, who gave it 8.0/10. The game is also very popular among gamers - as many as 91% of user reviews on Steam are positive.
Ghostrunner also achieved good financial results, so buying the IP for 5 million euros by 505 Games seems to be a very good move for the publisher. By the end of last year, more than half a million copies had been sold, significantly exceeding All In! Games predictions, which assumed that total sales would reach 400 thousand copies.
