Ghost Recon Wildlands 2 to be Announced on May 9?
The latest content update for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands hints that the sequel might be announced soon.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- The the latest update for Ghost Recon: Wildlands suggests that Ubisoft is working on a continuation;
- The game may be announced on May 9th.
The shooter Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands from Ubisoft received the Oracle Operation update today, which is the last portion of new content for the game. The hero of one of the missions - Jace Skell (played by Jon Bernthal, known from Netflix series Punisher) - gives another character a mysterious invitation to an event organized by Skell Technology, which is to take place on May 9, 2019. Is it possible that the French publisher is planning to announce the continuation of the game at this date?
A number of details seems to indicate just that. The note contains the web address of the company, and one of the scripts on the site refers to the mysterious "grnext". The simplest extension of the abbreviation seems to be Ghost Recon Next, which would quite obviously indicate the second part of the series. After logging in to this page, you will be directed to a message from Jace Skell, which you can play below.
Miss Bowman, this is Jace Skell. I'm so eager to hear what you think of our satellite tracking system. I will not beat around the bush - if you can find the time to file an evaluation by the end of the week, summing up the successful deployment in Bolivia and our synergetic and successful partnership, I could leverage that into support for the project Aurora. I am convinced that you are satisfied with our tech, and just want to get our agendas aligned. Keep me posted. The future can't wait. Oh, one last thing - one of my staff has gone silent, is off our grid. He's supposed to be in Bolivia. It's probably just a glitch, but if you could ask some of your people to check on him, I'd appreciate it. Please, get back to me.
If the production is actually in progress, it is quite possible that it will be released in the first quarter of 2020 - about three years after the premiere of the first installment (same as Tom Clancy's The Division 2). Reddit is already discussing what the mysterious news could be about and what will happen on May 9th.
