Genshin Impact Patch 2.4 to Bring Back Lantern Rite, New Location and Characters
On January 5, Genshin Impact will receive patch 2.4. Along with it, a new island will be added miHoYo's game, as well as two additional characters - Shenhe and Yun Jin. The Lantern Rite event will also return, as well as the opportunity to get three characters that were unavailable for about a year.
The beginning of the new year promises to be a great time for fans of Genshin Impact. On January 5, the devs will release patch 2.4. The patch will include a new island and two additional characters - five-star Shenhe and four-star Yun Jin (presented above). Later on, the update will also bring the Lantern Rite event, similar to the one from last year, as well as the long-awaited return of banners from which we can get powerful characters: Xiao, Ganyu and Zhonglie.
The underwater island of Enkanomiya
Apart from the event, the main attraction of patch 2.4 seems to be the underwater island of Enkanomiya. If you've been following Genshin Impact's story, you know that this was once the ancestral home of the current residents of Watatsumi. This area has been sealed for thousands of years, and now it will open up to us and offer, among other things, combat with unique enemies (such as Bathysmal Vishap and Fathomless Flame), as well as exploring the ruins of an ancient civilization older than anything seen on land, lit up with the artificial sun of Dainichi Mikoshi. We'll get to Enkanomiya via Moon-Bathed Deep, the key to which is acquired from the priestess Tsuyuko.
Lantern Rite event
Those who played Genshin Impact last year know what to expect from the Lantern Rite event. The fireworks display lighting up the night sky above Liyue Harbor will return; We will also be able to create our own fireworks using the Launch Tube gadget - the better the fireworks, the more prizes we will receive. There will also be puzzles based on playing with shadows to get the desired shape. Finally, we'll be able to obtain materials needed to rebuild Jade Chamber in three different ways, as well as fight a unique, powerful boss.
During the Lantern Rite event we'll be able to collect two types of special currency, which in turn can be exchanged for one of the eight four-star characters (to choose from: Beidou, Chongyun, Ningguang, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Xinyan, Yanfei, and the aforementioned new heroine - Yun Jin). During the event we'll also be able to get additional outfits for Ningguang (free of charge) and Keqing (paid), and up to ten free tickets (wishes).
New and old characters
Genshin Impact is all about characters and a special treat for fans are five-star heroes. Patch 2.4 will introduce a new heroine of this class, the Cryo- and spear-wielding Shenhe. On paper, she seems quite powerful and suited to many teams, but she's not the only reason why it was worth saving up primogems. Finally, after about a year, we will see the return pf the possibility to get three other five-star characters - Xiao, Ganyu and Zhonglie. The banner with the first one will be available at the same time as banner for Shenhe - in both cases the four-star character will be Yun Jin. Later, two more banners will be available; the first one will enabe us to draw Ganyu, and the second one - Zhonglie.
Changes, tweaks, and leaks
Developers from miHoYo are, of course, preparing much more in update 2.4. First and foremost, they want to improve the game's optimization, but also prepare Genshin Impact to work better on PlayStation 4 and 5 and Switch, including by enabling players using controllers to customize shortcuts on the selector wheel.
What's more, rumors have already surfaced online about patch 2.5, said to debut in late February and bring three new playable characters - Kuki Shinobu, Ayato, and the long-awaited Yae Miko.
