GeForce RTX 3000 Up to 20% More Expensive
ZOTAC and EVGA have introduced price increases for RTX 3000 series GPUs. In some cases, the differences reach more than 20%. The reason is the new tariff on components manufactured in China, imposed by the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
IN A NUTSHELL:
- EVGA and ZOTAC have increased the prices of Nvidia GeForce RTX 30XX series GPUs;
- Increases range from 3.9 to 22.6% and are higher for the smaller company (ZOTAC);
- Previously, ASUS had raised the prices of its graphics chips;
- The situation is a result of the introduction of a new tariff in the U.S. on components manufactured in China.
Tom's Hardware reports that EVGA and ZOTAC have raised the prices of their RTX 30XX series graphics cards (ASUS made a similar move earlier). In some cases, the increase reaches almost 23%. The reason is primarily the new 25% duty imposed in the U.S. on components manufactured in China. The differences are considerable - especially in the case of the smaller company (ZOTAC) which could not afford to take a larger portion of the costs on itself and had to pass them on to customers.

As you can see, the increases are considerable and, combined with poor availability, can make the investment in a new computer or upgrading old one a much greater burden on our wallets. The situation is particularly problematic in the case of GeForce RTX 3090 and GeFoce RTX 3070.
It can be expected that AMD's GPU prices will increase similarily, although we still have to wait for official report on this subject.
Increases will not affect only GPUs
Unfortunately, this is not the end of bad news - the tariff will have a similar effect on motherboards. Tom's Hardware editors expect that the situation may be particularly bad in the case of budget motherboards based on Intel CPUs (B460 and H410 chipsets), the supply of which is short.
It is worth noting that such big increases come at a time when most people tend to tighten their belts, or at least approach their money with a bit more care and caution, due to the uncertain situation in the world and the job market.
In short, it remains to wait and hope that the situation will improve - much will depend here on how the new US administration will arrange relations with China.
