The first reviews of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War have appeared online. They are very favorable for the next installment of the iconic FPS series.
- Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War was appreciated by industry critics.
- Many of them liked, among other things, the single-player campaign, solid multiplayer and Zombie mode, as well as a nice shooting model.
- However, the game doesn't offer a great revolution in the series.
Call of Duty lovers can finally put their hands on the full version of its latest installment. Today, Black Ops - Cold War launches on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Some people bought the game based on gameplays or trailers, others took part in the open beta multiplayer mode tests and used that to determin their level of interest, while others decided to make their decision to purchase the latest game Treyarch and Raven Software teams basedon reviews from industry critics. These have already started to appear on the web and there is no denying that they are very positive.
On Metacritic, the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War has an average rating of 83/100 (based on 6 reviews), while the page of the PlayStation 5 release features an average rating of 83/100. Opencritic, on the other hand, has collected 15 reviews, 91% of which are positive, with an average rating of 86/100. What did the critics like? A large part of them praised mainly the spy thriller campaign, which is dynamic, explosive, addictive and, as David Martinez from Hobby Consolas writes (via Metacritic), is among the best in the entire Call of Duty series. Many reviewers also liked the solid multiplayer, the Zombie mode, the pleasant shooting model and the visuals. Individual texts say that it is a "truly enjoyable experience" - amust-see game for the holiday season for fans of shooters and a very good next-gen debut of the franchise.
What didn't work out? People expecting a great revolution may feel disappointed. Although the devs were tempted to refresh some elements, as a whole it is still what Call of Duty lovers already know and love. So if someone hasn't been convinced by this series so far, Black Ops - Cold War won't change that. Moreover, the game has some problems related to the technical side or disappointing AI behavior.
