Exclusivity Doesn't Bother Final Fantasy XVI - It's Selling Brilliantly
The sixteenth installment of the Final Fantasy series is selling like hot cakes, and this despite the title's temporary exclusivity for PlayStation 5 consoles.
In less than a week after its release Final Fantasy XVI found more than 3 million buyers. The sales success of the new installment was announced by its creators via Twitter.
This result is impressive, especially if we take into account that "16" debuted exclusively on PlayStation 5 consoles.
Final Fantasy brand still strong
Interestingly, the launch sales of Final Fantasy XVI are close to the result of the previous installment - a remake of the seventh installment, which also debuted as a PlayStation exclusive.
The remake of Final Fantasy VII, which was initially released exclusively on PS4, in ten days reached an audience of 3.5 million. Despite the passage of years, the jRPG brand from Square Enix enjoys continued popularity.
And while we're on the subject of exclusives and publicity, by contrast, the latter was apparently lacking for independent developers of Season: A Letter to the Future, who this week announced the sales fiasco of their title aimed at PlayStation consoles and PC.
Final Fantasy XVI is a good game
Undoubtedly the commercial success of Final Fantasy XVI was influenced by the notes of critics, who almost unanimously hailed the work of Square Enix as another hit for Sony consoles - the best proof of which is the average rating of 88/100 on Metacritic.
At the very end, it is worth mentioning that Final Fantasy XVI was released on June 22. This title - like the previous parts - will be released on PC at a later date.
