Fan-made GTA: Vice City Remake on RAGE Engine Gets New Screenshots

The team at RevTeam shared new screenshots from their fan-made remaster of GTA: Vice City. The project is powered by the engine used in GTA IV, and we can expect a demo version later this year.

Ever dreamed of returning to the adventures of Tommy from GTA: Vice City, but you are rejected by 2002 graphics? The Russian group known as RevTeam might have a solution for that. The team is currently working on a new version of the game, and you can see the results on the latest screenshots. The unofficial remaster, titled Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 2 is being created on the engine that powered theGTA IV (RAGE).

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. RevTeam is working on a remaster of GTA: Vice City.
  2. The project is powered by RAGE, the engine from GTA IV.
  3. New screenshots from the remaster have appeared on the web, there are also plans to provide 2 trailers and a demo version.

DSOGaming reports that RevTeam is planning to release 2 new trailers and a demo version of the game later this year. The results of their work so far can be followed on the team's official channel on YouTube. At this point, the group is polishing the graphics and scripts. This is certainly not an easy task, especially since all the missions, as well as characters and weapons known from the original version are to appear in the remaster.

On paper it looks very good, but I would warn against getting overly optimistic, because the future of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 2 is not so certain. It's not easy to keep the enthusiasm and motivation on the same level for several years when working on a fan project. This is well illustrated by the situation from August this year, when Andrey Lisicin, the main designer of the remaster, decided to leave RevTeam. Another matter is legal issues. Take-Two, which is the publisher of the GTA series, can easily block the project and will probably sooner or later play this card.

Let us also remind that Vice City may yet return to our screens in the future thanks to Rockstar Games itself. According to some rumors, the city will appear in GTA VI, and one of the fans has even prepared a possible map of the area.
