The problem with gigantic mods is that they are often abandoned during development. It's hard to consider this a surprising news, because work on them often takes many years and they are being made by amateurs who work on these projects for free. The latest example of this was the modification called Fallout: Vault 13, the goal of which was to recreate the content of the first installment of the series using Fallout 4's engine.

  1. On the project's Discord channel, the authors announced that work on Fallout: Vault 13 have been suspended. The creators apologize to the fans, but they believe they made the right decision:

"After much careful thought and deliberation, we have decided to officially suspend development on Fallout: Vault 13. This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is the right step at this stage of our journey. I know this may come as unexpected news, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment it may cause."

  1. Within a few weeks, the creators intend to publish everything they have developed so far with this modification in mind. Theoretically, someone could try to finish it, but it would be an extremely difficult task. Releasing an unfinished mod will still be very beneficial, as other fans will be able to draw various elements from it for their projects.

In this case, the decision to abandon the mod is quite surprising. Just two months ago, the creators released an extensive demo of Fallout: Vault 13 (you can download it from NexusMods and ModDB or from the project's official Discord) and it seemed that the work was going in the right direction.

It's worth mentioning that, in parallel, another team is creating Fallout 4: Project Arroyo, which is a fan remake of the second part of the series. This project is still in development, but it will now be harder for the authors. They copperated closely with the creators of Fallout: Vault 13, jointly developing elements that could be used in both projects.
