Red Dead Redemption on PS5? This is Indicated by Information From Rockstar Games Employee
Red Dead Redemption is to be ported to the PS5 if recent information is to be believed. Developer's mistake or an accidental leak?
Mention on the topic of Red Dead Redemption's PlayStation 5 version appeared on the profile of one Rockstar Games employee. As X user Timur222 noticed, Emma Anderson (employed at the studio as a production coordinator) lists the release of the second installment of the Red Dead series on PS5 (and Switch) as one of the projects she was working on (via LinkedIn).
As the internet user admits, it is not clear whether this is a new mention (the page apparently has never been archived), nor what this information pertains to. Perhaps this is also a simple mistake and the producer meant PlayStation 4? The first Red Dead Redemption hit this platform over a year ago. In favor of this theory is the mention of the "PS5" release along with the edition prepared for the Nintendo console, because the game debuted on PlayStation 4 and Switch on the same day.
Nonetheless, it's quite a curious mistake for this platform, and it still hasn't been corrected. It can rather be ruled out that this is about the already offered RDR support for backward compatibility. There is no sensible reason for Anderson to highlight the addition of such a feature to her resume.
So it is possible that Red Dead Redemption may receive a kind of remaster natively supported by PS5, probably with boosted resolution and graphics. Let's assume that next week the title will hit PCs and this version will already receive significant improvements. So why wouldn't Rockstar also prepare a "next-gen" update for the first RDR?
Of course, all this is just speculation. Whether the mention on Emmy Anderson's profile is a simple mistake or a "leak" of Rockstar's plans, we will only find out in due time.
