Fallout 76 features no paid DLCs, Bethesda confirms
There are no paid downloadable content and no paid DLCs making their way to Fallout 76, Bethesda said. But the same can't be said about microtransactions.
Season Pass is not making its way to Fallout 76, Bethesda confirmed. What this means is:
- no paid DLCs;
- no paid downloadable content in the future;
- “cosmetic microtransactions.”
The decision comes as no surprise. After all, a lively, active community is what really matters when it comes to multiplayer games. Fallout 76 thus seems to follow into Battlefield V footsteps – EA’s reimagination of World War 2 will also do without a premium model. For the first time ever.
According to Pete Hines, Bethesda’s vice president, Fallout 76 is to gradually introduce more and more content as time passes, all of it free of charge.
There will be new content all the time, changes in game balance, whatever it takes to make the experience worth it. And by the way, all of this will be free – completely free. There is no Season Pass and no paid DLCs.
Of course, this also confirms that Fallout 76 focuses on longevity. The game will see constant updates to keep players engaged.
What, on the other hand, is not going to change? Microtransactions. No, Bethesda isn’t giving them up. However – similar to Rainbow Six: Siege – they’re not turning Fallout 76 into a pay-to-win title, and you’ll only have to pay for cosmetic items, like new weapons skins, clothes etc. And frankly – that’s a small price to pay.
Fallout 76 is due out on November 14. If you pre-ordered the game, you’re eligible to enter the closed beta this October.
