Fallout 76 Will Take „Huge Step Forward.” New Update Will Bring Something „Completely New” to Post-Apocalyptic Open-World RPG
During the Fallout Day broadcast, the December update for Fallout 76 was announced, adding, among other things, a new raid, equipment, and titles. On top of that, we learned new information about the possibility of becoming a ghoul.
Yesterday, a special broadcast from Bethesda took place, known as the so-called Fallout Day, during which a number of new features for Fallout 76 have been announced. Below you can watch the entire recording of this 40-minute stream.
Fallout 76 - upcoming updates
New update for Fallout 76 has been named the Gleaming Depths and will appear in the game in December, and its main attraction will be the eponymous raid. It will take us to an abandoned, underground research laboratory, where we will have to uncover its secrets and face enemies in five high-difficulty encounters. Special prizes will be awaiting the winners.
It's worth noting that the creators describe the Gleaming Depths as a "traditional dungeon in MMO style". They describe it as a “huge step forward” from the current endgame activities and something “completely new for Fallout 76".
The remaining new features announced in the update are:
- possibility of acquiring and crafting four-star legendary gear;
- player titles that can be earned for "practically everything"; they consist of two parts that can be combined with each other;
- option to add pets (initially only a dog and a cat) to your C.A.M.P. bases.
Additionally, from October 22 to November 5, the game will host a seasonal event called “Spooky Scorched”, during which special challenges and spooky rewards await us.
Bethesda also announced that by October 29th Fallout 76 is free to play, and there's a sale on the entire series on all platforms. For more details, we refer you to the company's article.
Playg as a ghoul
Besides, new information was shared regarding the ability to play as a ghoul, which was announced some time ago and will be available in the game in 2025.
In our new form, we will not only become immune to radiation, but it will also make us stronger. Bethesda has prepared many different perks for this feature, such as regaining HP just for being in combat. Additionally, in the ghoul form, hunger and thirst meters will be replaced with a "feralness" indicator, the filling of which carries various effects.
Depending on your playstyle, you can even afford a bit of feralness, as it has several of its own perks, such as transforming into a mad berserker fighting hand-to-hand, who can tear off the face of a death claw.
But not to make things too rosy - many NPCs and factions will not look kindly on our new look. On top of that, there is a problem with equipment selection. Relying on radiation does not go hand in hand with things like wearing power armor. It's worth adding that at any moment we will have the option to return to human form without losing progress.
Fishing
In the end, the devs announced a fishing mechanic, about which unfortunately we do not know too much yet. The creator of the game, Bill LaCoste, however, revealed that more details about it will be known at the end of the year, and for now he revealed that we will be able to fish in any body of water, and the fish will be used in new recipes.
Fallout 76 is available on PC, PS4 and Xone (with the option to play on PS5 and XSX/S). You can also play the title as part of the Game Pass subscription.
