Elden Ring Reception on Steam Improves; Notable Progress Visible
The mixed reception of Elden Ring on Steam is a thing of the past. Now 81% of user reviews praise the game, which has helped to change the categorization of the project's reception to „very positive”.
Elden Ring experienced a not entirely successful debut on Steam. Activity scores were sensational, but user ratings left a lot to be desired. A week after the release, however, the situation has clearly improved.
Elden Ring's reception on Steam is improving
- At the time of writing, 81% of user ratings on Steam praise Elden Ring, which is categorized as a "very positive reception".
- Just after launch only 59% of user ratings on Steam were positive, giving it a "mixed reception".
- The improvement was visible just a few days after the launch - last Monday 73% of user reviews on Steam praised the game, which changed the reception from "mixed" to "mostly positive". After exceeding 80%, the category was changed to "very positive".
- So you can clearly see that the game's reception is constantly improving.
The reason for the cold reception of Elden Ring on release day were numerous technical problems. In this matter a lot has changed. The devs have released first patches and fans have created mods to fix some of the problems and found ways to minimize other difficulties.
Not everything still works perfectly, but most of the PC players can already enjoy the game without any major difficulties. So it is not surprising that their reviews are more and more positive.

Excellent sales of Elden Ring in the UK
Better ratings on Steam are not the only reason for the devs to be happy. In the UK, the game turned out to be a big hit. Not counting the next installments of FIFA and Call of Duty (which always dominate this market), Elden Ring made the biggest debut since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018.
The data comes from analytics group GSD and includes both boxed and digital sales. More copies of Elden Ring were purchased in the UK within a week of launch than Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
