EA Reinvents Battlefield; Get Ready for 'Truly Integrated Ecosystem'
EA CEO Andrew Wilson is beginning to ramp up the hype ahead of the new Battlefield launch, claiming that the game will redefine the franchise.
The summary of Electronic Arts' latest financial results served not only to boast of the success of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in front of the investors, but was also an excuse to bring up the subject of the upcoming Battlefield.
During the board meeting EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that the next installment of Battlefield will be a "re-imagining" of the series, which will get a "truly integrated ecosystem" (via Key to Gaming).
While it's hard to say what's behind this lofty statement, there's no doubt that EA realizes that the series needs a breath of fresh air after the "stink" that accompanied the heavily criticized Battlefield 2042.
Recall that at the time of its release the shooter was full of bugs and glitches. Admittedly, since then a number of updates has been released, which have significantly improved the game, but it's hard to forget how Battlefield 2042 began its life - especially with the next installment in the series looming on the horizon.
Will the failure of one game contribute to the success of the next? We will find out in the unspecified future. Nevertheless, EA is doing its best to rebuild the iconic series in the eyes of players. Evidence of this are the changes that have taken place at management positions of the franchise after the release of Battlefield 2042.
Finally, let us remind you that this is not the first time that Electronic Arts brass has hyped up the new Battlefield. During the previous investor meeting they assured that the series will return as "a platform for decades".
Interestingly enough, Battlefield 2042 before its release was also supposed to be "the most-" game in the series in many respects. We all know all too well how that turned out.
