E3 2015: Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part I Announced

Obsidian Entertainment has announced Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part I, which is the first big expansion for the popular cRPG. The add-on will introduce new adventures, locations and characters, and increase the level cap.

One of the most interesting moments during the conference dedicated to PC games at this year’s E3 proved to be the reveal of Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part I by Obsidian Entertainment. This is the first major addition to one of the best cRPGs of recent years. As the title suggests, it will only be the first part of a new story, and we’ll have to wait for its culmination at least until the second extension launches.

The expansion will be set after the events of the original game. Word of the triumph of our band of heroes has reached every corner of the realm, including the remote region of White March, located at the foot of a grim mountain stronghold called Durgan. Long ago it was abandoned by its dwarven constructors and overtaken by monsters. The presence of the new tenants in conjunction with numerous traps makes most people who venture inside never return. Still, there is no shortage of daredevils ready to try their hand, because according to rumors the stronghold guards valuable artifacts. The player’s team will take on this challenge as well, delving into the fortress on a mission to discover the secret of the legendary Durgan steel.

In addition to the main story arc, Pillars of Eternity: The White March Part I will also offer numerous side quests. What’s more, we’ll be able to learn new skills and recruit additional companions to our team. The level cap will also be increased.

The extension will of course only come to PC and will require the core game. A specific release date hasn’t been given yet. Instead, it was revealed that we will not have to wait too long.
