Dying Light 2 Players Miss Gloomy Atmosphere of the First Game
Dying Light fans are missing the atmosphere of the first part. This year's installment gives the impression of being a bit more cheerful, which is at odds with the zombie apocalypse theme.
In February this year we welcomed the second installment of Dying Light, which turned out to be a solid title. However, not all players liked the game's atmosphere, seemingly lighter compared to that of the first part.
Sort of... Fortnite?
This comparison may seem too distant for many, although such opinions could be seen among comments on the progression (or perhaps regression) of visuals in Dying Light 2 compared to Dying Light.
What stings players the most is that the atmosphere and environments in the newer installment seem much more serene. Players pointed out the amount of greenery on buildings, people talking in the streets during the day, or the promises made at E3.
As the trailer shows, DL2 from three years ago seemed much darker and much closer to what gamers long for. Below you'll also find a direct visual comparison of the two games. Of course, we focus here more on the atmosphere than on the quality of textures themselves, which are definitely better in DL2.
How are the impressions?
Speaking of players' memories and how things used to be better, it would be a sin not to bring up some opinions on the differences between the DLand DL2.
"My impression is that DL1 had that "vibe" that really captivated me, and which DL2 just doesn't have. I think I liked the "loneliness" that I felt in the first part, along with the fear factor associated with the number of zombies that were roaming the area, and the general creepy atmosphere. Sometimes I felt like I was in a dream," wrote Prospect.
"I have a feeling that the developers wanted the game to be more mainstream and friendly to new players, so they toned down the heavy atmosphere. Original Dying Light made me sweat with fear," wrote El Kenny Bagnis.
Although the character of both games was best summed up by Savvy Studio. He stated that DL2 makes the player feel like he is a superhero. The first game, on the other hand, makes you feel like you are trying to save your life at all costs.
