Dragon's Dogma 2 is Really Being Made; Official Announcement [Update: Info From Capcom Showcase]
Dragon's Dogma 2 lived to see an official announcement. During Sony's show, we were able to see an impressive trailer for this action RPG by Capcom.
During the Capcom Showcase it was announcedthat the world in Dragon's Dogma 2 will be four times larger than in the original. Unfortunately, the Japanese company was not tempted to present a new trailer or gameplay - Capcom only recycled the footage from the PlayStation Showcase.
Capcom is spoiling players with more than just a new Street Fighter. After many years of speculation Dragon's Dogma 2 was unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase.
We have known about the fact that sequel is being developed since last year. Nevertheless, nothing concrete was revealed then, and the developers were in no hurry to provide any information about the game. You can watch the first trailer from the real thing below.
Fortunately for fans thirsty for news on the return of the series, the trailer abounds not only in cutscenes Capcom has also graced us with gameplay footage, which, for veterans of Dragon's Dogma should look familiar (though not graphically, as the visuals hold up to modern standards).
Arcade clashes with legendary monsters in the company of a party using melee and ranged weapons and magic, as well as the ability to climb huge monsters were at one time the hallmark of the original Dragon's Dogma. These elements will return in the sequel, as will the person of the Arisen and the dragon heralding the destruction of the world (as confirmed by a post on the PlayStation's official blog).
It's just a shame that the PlayStation Showcase did not bring with it a release date. No target platforms were given either, although the PlayStation 5 was somehow confirmed by its mere presence at the presentation. Besides, Capcom hasn't been limiting itself to Sony consoles for a long time, so we can assume that Dragon's Dogma 2 is also headed for PCs and Xbox Series X/S.
