- The studio of streamer Dr. Disrespect has shared new information about its debut production.
- Project Moon will be a "vertical extraction shooter."
- The title will combine solutions known from Escape from Tarkov with arena shooters and battle royale.
Dr. Disrespect is a well-known streamer who has been building his popularity for years on Twitch, among others. Recently, due to a ban, he was forced to move fully to YouTube. However, this is not his only occupation.
The streamer has also been involved in game development. Last year he founded his own studio called Midnight Society, and now we have learned more about his debut project.
FPS created by veterans
Dr. Disrespect argued from the beginning that setting up his own studio was not a mere fad. The team includes many veterans, such as Robert Bowling (former creative strategist of the Call of Duty series) and Quinn DelHoyo (designer of the multiplayer mode in Halo 5: Guardians).
It was also revealed at the start that Midnight Society's first game would be an online FPS using Unreal Engine 5. The project was quickly revealed to be using NFT technology as well.
We got more information about the game from the studio's blog. It is titled Project Moon and will be a "vertical extraction shooter", taking inspiration from arena shooters and battle royale.
So players can expect a title in the style of Escape from Tarkov with a twist in the form of multi-level complex maps. The player will fight both human-controlled and AI-controlled enemies.
Early access in a different form
The developers also explained how the Access Pass works. After buying the pass, players will get access to snapshots of the game. These will essentially be fragments of the game, showcasing its various aspects.
In this way, the developers want to guide the further development of the game with a community of backers.
It was also revealed how often these fragments will be released. More snapshots are to be made available to patrons every six weeks.
For now, however, it has not been revealed when the studio will release the first part of Project Moon. It is possible that this will be announced at a special event for backers on July 29 in Los Angeles.
