Diablo 4 Players Drop Like Flies Under Onslaught of Buffed Bosses
The new update to Diablo 4, among many changes, has significantly strengthened the so-called world bosses, who are now wreaking havoc among players in the first two tiers.
For the past two days, Diablo 4 players have been enjoying new content - Season of Blood, which introduced to the game vampires, and with them a slew of new features and changes.
Among the many updated systems that came to Blizzard's game with patch 1.20, there was a place for world bosses, i.e. big enemies that periodically appear on the open map.
On the occasion of the latest update, the great adversaries received powerful boosts - both in life points and damage - which finally enables them to sow terror among players, especially low-level ones.
Importantly, however, the greater challenge of bosses has been properly balanced. World bosses leave behind more coveted loot, as well as appear much more frequently - every 3.5 hours instead of every 6 hours.
"It was a massacre" - community reactions to the changes.
Modified clashes with world bosses - like most of the recent changes - have met with quite a warm reception among the Diablo community, which can be seen on the game's sub-reddit.
Compared to the previous update, bosses stopped dying after just a few moments and started being a real threat - at least in the first two world tiers.
"We just killed Avarice. The best fun I've had in the game. We died a lot of times anyway."
"I killed one [boss - editor's note] yesterday and it was enjoyable, I love the fact that they made these clashes harder."
Some players straightforwardly admitted that only in the second season they could get acquainted with the range of movements of large opponents.
"It was a massacre. (...) Now at least you can get to know the moves and habits of different bosses, because they are not squashed in a few seconds. For example, I didn't know that one boss with a chest on his back summons a group of treasure goblins to distract everyone when his health is low."
While it's true that the huge enemies with higher character levels and the change of the world's tier to 3 and 4 cease to be problematic, those just starting the game can really feel their power.
It may even be excessive some times, due to the fact that the monstrosities deal increased damage and have more life points if more players are nearby. For this reason, some clashes seem doomed from the start. This occurs when several low-level players come to gang up on the boss, hoping for easy loot.
"World tier 3 seems perfectly fine, as you are limited by special dungeons. I never killed any of the bosses on world 2 because there were many level 10 characters around every time.
Some players - which seems to be in the majority - are even calling for a gate to be placed in front of huge opponents, which only the "worthy" of competing with the world's masterminds will be able to cross.
World boss area must be limited by level, a level 2 character should not be allowed to enter. All that such players do is to strengthen the boss and make it difficult for everyone else to kill it."
"Let me remind you that all Xbox users (One and Series X/S) can test Diablo 4 completely free of charge until October 22. The game can be played for up to 10 hours..
What's more, subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Core and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will also be able to play NBA 2K24, Lawn Mowing Simulator and Hokko Life over the weekend.
Diablo 4 has been released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It is worth noting that the latest Blizzard game is also available on Steam from two days.
