Yes, it's already this Friday, when fans of Spider-Man from Insomniac Games can start another adventure in New York City, playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales. The sequel to the very well-received Marvel's Spider-Man officially debuted, and we've already received the first information about a potential spin-off starring Venomen.

It all depends on the fans

Jon Paquette, senior narrative director for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, gave an interview to Insider, in which he answered, among other things, the question of what is needed for a spin-off dedicated to Venom (in the style of Spider-Man: Miles Morales).

"Here's what we're doing now - we're focusing on Spider-Man 2 and we'll wait for fans' reactions. We will listen to them and then ask ourselves: ok, what do they really want? We'll discuss our ideas once we've all gotten some sleep and some vacation," Paquette said.

Insomniac Games' next steps therefore depend primarily on the response of the brand's admirers. Observing the initial reactions to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, one can be sure, however, that they will be mostly positive, and this should eventually convince the developers to create a game focusing on Venom.

Let's point out that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 currently has as many an 130 critic reviews on Metacritic. Their average score is impressive, as it is as high as 91/100.

Todd as Venom

It's also worth mentioning that during the interview Jon Paquette gave an insight into the story of Tony Todd's involvement in the role of Venom. The actor is known for such movies as Cheat Destiny, Platoon, Night of the Living Dead or Candyman, where he played the title role.

Paquette revealed that it was Bryan Intihar, the game's creative director, who came up with the idea to engage Todd.

"He must have seen the new trailer for Candyman or something. He heard the voice and thought: 'Hey, what about Tony Todd?'. He texted everyone and asked: 'What do you guys think?'. And we said: 'Oh my God. That would be great,'" says Paquette.

Let's emphasize that the first opportunity to form an opinion about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is today. The game debuts on the PlayStation 5 console.
