PS5 Generates Biggest Profits Ever for Sony. Sales of Helldivers 2 and Spider-Man 2 Go Into Millions
The PS5 generated almost as much revenue as the PlayStation 4, becoming the „most profitable console generation” for Sony. The results of Helldivers 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 were boasted.
Data provided by Sony shows that PlayStation 5 is the "most profitable generation of consoles." We received this information during business meetings organized with representatives of the company. They also proudly announced outstanding sales for Helldivers 2 and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

The published presentation stated that the latest generation of consoles provided Sony with revenues of USD 106 billion, and PS5 alone has already found 56 million buyers. By comparison: From 2013 to 2019, PlayStation 4 managed to generate 107 billion dollars. So it turns out that the PS5 has brought Sony almost the same revenue in 4 years as the PS4 did in 7 years.

Just keep in mind that everything the company has done since the launch of the 9th generation consoles is included in the PS5 sales figures. So if something related to PS4 is sold at this moment, it will be recorded in the revenues generated by the current generation. In this way, they were able to boast good-looking results, which we should take with a pinch of salt.
Nevertheless, the PS4 remains crucial for Sony, as both consoles currently share a user base of 49 million active monthly users. Importantly, PS5 owners are more willing to spend money on additional game content, services such as PS Plus, and peripheral devices. They spend less on full-fledged titles.

Helldivers 2 and Marvel's Spider Man 2
We recently informed you about the tremendous success of Helldivers 2. The game became the fastest-selling game in Sony's portfolio and since the day of its premiere, it has sold over 12 million copies. The PC version has played a significant role in this, undoubtedly prompting the company to release game services on that platform.
The Japanese giant also boasted about the sales of Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Let us remind you that this title needed only 11 days to find 5 million buyers. So far, the game has already sold over 11 million copies. The company will certainly want to follow up and, as in the case of the first installment, release an expansion.
It must be admitted that the ninth generation of consoles is very successful for Sony in financial terms. The PS5 is certainly performing better than its competitor, the XSX/S. Unfortunately, this doesn't completely align with the players' opinions, which have been significantly affected by the company's recent actions regarding the mandatory linking of PSN accounts with Steam profiles.
