Diablo 4 Expected to Provide Thousands of Gameplay Hours

In an interview, developers working on Diablo 4 revealed that the game is being designed to be able to capture players' attention for thousands of hours.

Blizzard Entertainment developers working on Diablo IV have given an interview to IGN. The conversation was dedicated to the on-going closed tests, but there was some interesting information about the game itself.

  1. Diablo 4 is being designed so that it can provide thousands of hours of fun.
  2. In order to realize this, it became crucial to develop the right endgame.
  3. The story campaign is to be very important of course, but Blizzard wants to avoid a situation in which nothing of interest awaits players after completing it. Instead after completing the main story, players are to be given a ton of things to do in the game world.
  4. The end of the campaign will therefore be the moment when Diablo IV will transform into a live-service game, which is expected to offer us new attractions every now and then.

This approach is natural, but successful realization of the live-service model is not easy, as it requires work to be carried out quickly. Blizzard had problems with this with Diablo Immortal, whose pace of development, especially initially, was considered too slow by many players, although the situation has improved recently. The developers of Diablo IV face therefore a daunting task, and we're curious to see if they can manage it.

Some problems, by the way, have appeared already in the closed beta. Some players, especially those who prefer solo play, strongly disliked daily activities, as they feel that such a solution forces them to play every day.

Recall that the start of the Diablo 4 open beta is scheduled for early next year. The game is headed for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Also the full release is planned for 2023.
